Rebecca Paul MP Opens Refreshed Outdoor Play Area at Welcare

We were delighted to welcome Rebecca Paul, Member of Parliament for Reigate, to officially open our newly refreshed outdoor garden and play area on 5th September.

The transformation of our outdoor area is thanks to the incredible efforts of a dedicated Faith Beyond the Pews team from St Margaret’s Church in Chipstead. Over several weeks, volunteers worked tirelessly to breathe new life into the space, creating a safe, engaging, and vibrant environment for children to play, learn, and thrive.

The official opening was a special moment for everyone involved. Not only was it a chance to celebrate but it also offered an opportunity to share with Rebecca Paul MP the vital work that Welcare does across the borough of Reigate and Banstead.  We were able to speak about the significance of outdoor play in early childhood development and highlight some of the growing challenges faced by families in our community. From the rising cost of living to increased social isolation and mental health pressures, many local families are navigating difficult circumstances that affect both parents and children. Welcare exists to offer practical, emotional, and developmental support to help families overcome these challenges and build stronger, more resilient futures.

Rebecca Paul MP listened with compassion, asking thoughtful questions and expressing her admiration for the work of our staff, volunteers, and supporters. Her presence and engagement were a strong reminder of the importance of partnership between community organisations to support  those who need it most.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to St Margaret’s Chipstead for making this transformation possible, and to Rebecca Paul MP for taking the time to visit and learn more about the lives we are helping to change every day.
