Make twice the difference for children and families!
Every donation to Welcare’s Big Give Christmas Challenge will support our work with children and families. Helping Welcare to support more even more children and families with:
- Domestic abuse recovery and building safer family relationships.
- Parenting and family relationships, helping parents build confidence and strengthen family life.
- Children’s emotional wellbeing, helping children build confidence and resilience.
- Mental health and emotional wellbeing, supporting families through challenging times.
- Financial hardship, including access to emergency funds and practical support.
- SEND support, helping families access the right help from schools and other professionals.
- Isolation and loneliness, helping families connect with support in their local community.
Sylvia & Andrei's Story
Silvia and her 8-year-old son, Andrei, were supported by Welcare following the devastating death of their child and brother.
The family were also struggling financially, as mum’s mental health had been severely affected by her son’s passing, leaving her unable to work and the family with very limited income.
Welcare worked alongside other organisations to ensure the family had the support they needed, including specialist bereavement support. Welcare’s focus was on practical help, including providing supermarket vouchers and making a referral to a food bank, using our own Families in Crisis fund to support with housing costs and household bills, and securing a place on a football holiday club for Andrei.
Sylivia told us:
“Your kindness, patience, understanding and genuine care have meant more to me than words can express. You didn’t just offer support, you made us feel heard, understood and cared for.”

50% of the money raised will support Welcare’s Family Support Services, helping us continue to provide practical and emotional support to children and families facing difficult circumstances.
The other 50% will support our Families in Crisis at Christmas Appeal, helping families who are struggling financially with essentials and support at what can be an especially difficult time of year.
