A Wonderful and Uplifting Service – Annual Service of Thanksgiving 2025

On 14th November, supporters, friends, staff and trustees gathered at Bromley Parish Church for the Annual Service of Thanksgiving, celebrating the work of Welcare in Bromley with children and families. The service was led by Reverend James Harratt and, and we were honoured to welcome The Mayor of Bromley, Cllr Jonathan Andrews, and the former Mayor, Cllr Dr David Jefferys. We are grateful to them for contributing to the service and sharing in the buffet lunch afterwards.

This year’s theme, God’s Love in Action, was especially fitting for Welcare, a charity that embodies faith through practical support for children and families. The service featured a moving reading and reflections on the significance of this theme, reminding us all of the love and care that is at the heart of everything we do.

A highlight of the service was the choir from Parish Primary School, who joyfully contributed two uplifting songs, enhancing our worship and adding to the spirit of the occasion.

The service was organised by our dedicated Bromley Parish Representatives and friends, offering an opportunity to reflect on Welcare’s ongoing work. We also heard from a mother whose family has been supported by Welcare. You can listen to her inspiring story here.

Over lunch, we thanked the former Mayor Cllr Dr David Jefferys and his wife Ann-Marie for choosing Welcare as one of the beneficiaries of their fundraising efforts during their mayoral year. Their support has raised our profile in the borough and introduced us to new partner organisations.

The work of Welcare is rooted in our Anglican origins and deep connection with local churches in Bromley, Beckenham & Orpington.  The service allowed us to strengthen these bonds, giving us the encouragement and support we need as we look ahead to the challenges and opportunities of the coming year.

We would like to express thanks to everyone who attended and contributed our 2025 service.   Special thanks also to Christina Clark for the beautiful photos that capture the spirit of the day.
