Parenting programmes

Welcare parenting programmes are about equipping parents with skills to manage their children’s behaviour.

Each year over 500 parents attend the groups, which run for 12-weeks and are offered centres across London and East Surrey.

All programmes are run by Welcare staff using recognised models such as the Webster Stratton Incredible Years programme and Strengthening Families, Strengthening Communities.

As well as learning practical skills, parents become more confident in their abilities as parents. They also meet other parents to share ideas and concerns.

Some parents are referred to our courses by social workers, health visitors, GPs, youth offending teams, other voluntary organisations, the probation service, CAFCASS, courts, CAMHS, self-referrals and schools, amongst others.

Coming to the groups helped me to focus on my son and gave me the knowledge I needed.
