Greenhouse

The Greenhouse project is an after-school children’s group with a therapeutic focus.

We work with small groups of ten primary school children who come to us at an early age – normally when they are around seven years old.

Many of the children, who are referred by their schools, have had disrupted early years with no opportunity to build secure emotional attachments.

Once they join Greenhouse, children are expected to come to the group after school once a week for four years. Part of the success of Greenhouse is precisely because of this long-term focus. We don’t go away.

Each year of the project is different with sessions focusing on, for example, group games, discussions, physical activities, cooking and eating together, arts and crafts and trips away.

The Greenhouse project increases children’s resilience, emotional literacy and self-worth, as well as fostering a sense of fun and adventure.
