Become a Welcare church rep
Could you support Welcare by becoming our representative for your local church?
As a church representative you will play a vital role in supporting Welcare’s work. You could:
- represent Welcare at church events and meetings
- make sure Welcare’s posters and leaflets and available in prominent places
- circulate Welcare’s newsletters
- request your church to hold services highlighting Welcare’s work (e.g. harvest or toy services).
- Encourage your church to donate regularly (e.g. a food box at the back of the church)
- pass donated clothes, equipment and other items to Welcare
- liaise with the Welcare prayer co-ordinator and pass requests to the church
- notify us of any change of parish rep or minister
- report regularly to the PCC to keep Welcare prominent.
You could also:
- refer a struggling family to Welcare
- hold a coffee morning and invite a speaker to talk about Welcare
- ask for a five minute slot in a service to speak about Welcare (resources are available) or ask someone from Welcare to give the talk
- put an article about Welcare in the newsletter/parish magazine
- consider becoming a volunteer for Welcare and recruit others
- hold a fundraising event to raise profile of Welcare by having fun
- ask to borrow display boards to publicise Welcare
- speak to the children’s groups and youth of the church about the work of Welcare.
As a Welcare church rep we will support you by:
- sending you a termly newsletter for circulation
- sending you regular e-mail updates (if you have an email address) giving you a monthly update including a case study which could be included in your parish newsletter/magazine
- sending you various forms of publicity material such as posters, leaflets, display board and PowerPoint presentations.
A number of experienced speakers are available to present the work of Welcare at church services or to groups.
