Reverend Anne-Marie Garton
Anne-Marie started working for Welcare in 1992, initially as a Senior Social Worker, and since became the Chief Executive in 2005. She has held managerial posts in the statutory and voluntary sectors, and is an ordained priest serving in the Caterham Team Ministry part time. Her responsibilities include:
- Working closely with the Board of Trustees with overall responsibility for the direction and delivery of the service.
- Chairing the Senior Management Team (SMT).
- Networking with other organisations in the same area of work.
Director of Finance and Resources
Atawa Aryee FCCA
Atawa joined Welcare in September 2005. She is a qualified member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants. She has over 12 years of senior management and financial management experience within the voluntary sector.
She has responsibilities for financial management, ICT and property management at Welcare. She shares responsibilities for the strategic direction, planning and development of Welcare with the Director of Operations and the Chief Executive.

Hugh Salmon
Hugh joined Welcare in June 2009, initially to manage the Family Support Service in Lewisham. He has been working as Operations Director since April 2010. He is a GSCC registered Social Worker, with 15 years professional experience in both statutory and voluntary sectors, in settings ranging from child protection and adoption to asylum seekers and service user involvement. During this time he has also spent several years working in Eastern Europe and Central Asia as a trainer, consultant and programme manager.
His role in Welcare currently includes responsibility for Welcare’s services in Wandsworth, Croydon, Bromley, as well as the Child Contact Service.
Lorna White
Lorna has worked for Welcare since June 2006. She is a qualified social worker, counsellor and trainer having worked in the voluntary sector for a number of years.
She is responsible for the operation and strategic development of Welcare centres in Lambeth, Croydon, East Surrey, Greenwich, Richmond and Merton. Other responsibilities include;
- Chairing the OMT meeting where information is shared and disseminated to staff teams, it is also an opportunity to share ideas, learn and raise concerns.
- Offering monthly supervision to managers, including joint supervision to social workers for case discussion and practice development within the centres.
- Negotiating new work with local authorities and in collaboration with team members work on fundraising bids for major grants. This also involves raising the Welcare profile by contributing to forums with local authorities.
She is a member of the Good Practice Committee, and has some lead responsibility for practice development.
Above all we must continue listening and asking children what they are feeling, thinking and wanting.
